Naan Kadavul audio on January 1 !

Good news, the music of Bala's magnum opus Njaan Kadavul will be launched on January 1, 2009 Thursday at Sathyam Cinema's in Chennai. When director Bala does something, he does it in style and we are sure it will be a glitzy affair.
The perfectionist that he is, Bala has been working on the Arya- Pooja starrer for nearly two year now, and all those who're associated with it think it will be a sure shot success, bagging many awards.

The film which has music by the maestro Ilayaraja, is said to be spell binding. While the technicians are elated at the expectations of an award that the movie has generated, director Bala has spoken to the lead artistes of the movie and asked them to dub for themselves, making them eligible for an award.

'Guru En Aalu' comes on Pongal !

After several delays, finally Madhavan's much-hyped 'Guru En Aalu' will hit the screens on Pongal. Produced by KRG and directed by Selvah, the movie is the remake of recent Bollywood hit 'Yes Boss'.
The Shahrukh Khan starrer was about a youth, who is desperate to strike it rich in life. The Tamil version features Madhavan, Malayalam actress Mamta Mohandoss and Abbas in the lead roles. After 'Minnale' the Maddy-Abbas combo is once again being seen on screen after a hiatus. Vivek's comedy is another highlight of the movie.
Mamta plays the role enacted by Madhuri Dixit. Madhavan is upbeat about the movie. He says, 'I had seen Yes Boss several times. It has emotions, romance and humor in it. Selvah is a crafty director, who has done justice to the script. 'Guru En Aalu' will click'.

Rajinikanth hitchhikes for 'Endhiran' !

Rajinikanth, who was struck in a traffic-jam near Ennore, where the shooting of 'Endhiran' was on, was given assistance by a group of stunt men to reach the shooting spot without getting delayed on Monday. They managed to cover Rajinikanth with a huge coat and a helmet and took him on a motorcycle to the shooting spot.
Rajinikanth was shooting for the movie at Ennore along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Director Shankar was canning a song sequence. Rajinikanth who left his residence in a car got struck up in a traffic jam near Ennore. He called up Shankar and said that it would be too difficult for him to reach the place. A busy industrial area, the road was blocked by several rows of Lorries.
Shankar came up with an idea and sent a couple of stunt men with motorcycles. They helped Rajinikanth cover his face with a helmet and gave him a long coat. Then they took him in the two-wheeler to the shooting spot.
All the crew members including Aishwarya were surprised to know that Rajnikanth had reached the place in a two-wheeler.

Ban on Nayanthara? (Telgu and malayalam too)

The film producers council are contemplating a ban on Nayanthara, reports our sources close to Kollywood. The buzz is that director Lingusamy and his production house Tirupathi Brothers have complained that Nayan refused to star in their forthcoming venture – Payya - after receiving an advance of Rs. 25 lakhs.
NayantharaBut sources close to Nayan point out that the venture failed to take off on the stipulated time mentioned in the contract and Nayan’s call sheet was wasted. The advance amount, as per their claims, is adjusted towards the loss incurred by the actress.
The buzz in Kollywood is that the Producers’ Council may take stern on the actress which could pave way for her ban in the Telugu and Malayalam film industries too.

Ajith's fan was hit with a knife

In another incident pertaining to Aegan, the leader of Ajith's fan club in Trichy was hit with a knife by another group of Ajith's fans. It was arranged by Trichy Ajith fans club to screen the movie Aegan as a special show for his addicted fans alone. Tickets were sold by the club leader and a group of people approached him for 200 tickets in bulk. As the club leader who was in his 30s refused to sell them tickets, the angry mob hit the guy with a small knife and escaped from the place.. Even though the club members tried to catch the mob, the mob escaped by showing the knife towards them!

Vikram shoots with Aishwarya Rai !

Finally the D-Day is here. Our Chiyaan Vikram's dream has come true!He held his first shoot with Aishwarya Rai in the forests of Malayatoor near Kochi in Kerala for Mani Ratnam's tri-lingual film in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu titled tentatively Ravana in Hindi and Asokavanam in Tamil.
Vikram plays the hero in the Tamil and Telugu version, while he plays a character with shades of black in the Hindi version.Aishwarya and her husband Abhishek Bachchan who play hero and heroine in the Hindi version, arrived in Kochi on Thursday(Oct 30) morning and straightaway joined the unit.The Bachchan's were late in joining the unit as they were held up in Mumbai, looking after the ailing Amitabh Bachchan who was hospitalized last week. Their entire shooting schedule had gone wrong, and Mani's film was the worst affected.Meanwhile Vikram who has completed the entire shoot of his Susi Ganesan directed Kandasami has devoted next three months for Mani Ratnam's film.Vikram wants to keep his new look a top secret, till January when he will be actively involved in promoting Kanthasamy, which will be a Pongal release.

Rajini dance for his daughter's commands !

Mani Ratnam impressed by Rajni’s Sivaji !

Impressed by the stunts in Sivaji – The Boss, ace director Mani Ratnam has roped in the stunt director Peter Hains for his forthcoming bilingual film Ravan. Peter Hains has carved a niche for himself in the Indian film industry by choreographing stunt scenes for various films including Sivaji, Gajini (Hindi version) and Anniyan, The film’s shooting had to be stalled when the lead pair, Abishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, were held up in Mumbai owing to the ill health of Amitabh Bachchan. Sources have it that shooting will recommence after Diwali. Ravan – the Hindi version - stars Abishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead role with Vikram playing the antagonist. In the Tamil version Vikram and Aishwarya Rai play the lead roles and Prithviraj plays the villain role.

Actor Silambarasan back to square one !

The movie started off as Poda Podi, starring Silambarasan and Varalakshmi, daughter of Sarath Kumar. However, at some point the title was changed to the more dignified sounding Thiru Poda Thirumathi Podi. The reason behind this title change is not clear. But now, a second title change has been enforced and this time the reason is very clear.The title has been reverted to the original Poda Podi itself, doing away with the Thiru and Thirumathi additions. The reason is fairly simple, the changed title was not that easy to be used in conversation.
Pronouncing the entire name of the movie was seen as a bit difficult and thus the decision was taken to go back to the original, more colloquial form which did not put any pressure on one’s verbal skills. The makers seem to believe that this will help the movie reach the masses better, without the salutatory additions. Silambarasan is at the moment fully involved in the finishing touches of Silambattam which is expected to be out in November.

Nayanthara contributes Rs 5 Lakhs!

As contributions continues to flow into the Sri Lankan Tamils Relief Fund set up by the State government, top actress Nayanthara was the first among Kollywood actors to contribute her share.According to sources close to CM’s office, Nayanthara visited M.Karunanidhi’s house in Gopalapuram early morning today (Oct 30) and handed over a cheque of Rs 5 Lakhs. With this, the relief fund has already crossed the Rs.1-crore mark just three days after the drive began.Nayan is also expected to take part in the Unnavritham organized by Nadigar Sangam under the leadership of Sarath Kumar on November 1 at Nadigar Sangam office in Habibullah Road, T.Nagar in Chennai between 10 AM and 4 PM.Earlier actor Napoleon handed over a cheque for Rs.5 lakh, while others in Kollywood like director Sundar C, Kushboo and Vivek met the Chief Minister and handed over Rs.1 lakh each..!

The Indian Panorama, which is the International Indian Film Festival, will be held as usual in Goa this year too. The seven-member jury headed by director KNT Shastri has selected about 25 films to be showcased in this event. The four Tamil films that have made it to the Indian Panorama are Billa, Kalloori, Kanchivaram and Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai. According to Billa's producer Anandha Suresh, the film has been chosen for the commercial category.There were widespread speculation in Kollywood that Anjathe and Subramaniapuram will make it to the Indian Panorama and its non selection has come as a shock. Reacting to this, Subramaniapuram's director Sasi said that he made the film for the audience and not to be selected for the Indian Panorama! The event will be held in December, adds our source.

Popular actress Sneha has been chosen for the prestigious Nandi award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for her critically applauded first-rate performance in 'Radha Gopalam', a Telugu film of 2005. The film which had Srikanth and Sneha in lead roles was directed by Bapu with the musical excellence of Mani Sharma.The award would be presented to Sneha at a grand function which is slated to be held in Hyderabad on the 28th of November.

Actor Surya gives away 1Kg gold !

The winners of the Aircel golden bat contest were announced today. The contest had been held in April 2008 coinciding with the India Premier League. The contest involved scratching a recharge coupon and upon finding the word ‘PLAY’ and then writing a slogan in support of the Chennai Superkings team which was lead by Indian captain Mahendar Singh Dhoni and had Vijay as its brand ambassador. The prizes were given to the most catchy slogans. The first prize, a 1 Kg golden bat was won by Balaji from Krishnagiri. There were also 15 second prizes of bats worth Rs. 1 lakh each and 7 third prizes of bats worth Rs. 50000 each. The prizes were handed out by Surya at a function. Speaking at the function, Surya said that both himself and wife Jyothika were big fans of Indian captain MS Dhoni. When asked about what he would have done with the 1Kg golden bat if he had won it, he told that he would have given it to his daughter Diya.

Dhanush is in a festive mood. “It is after a long time that Selva and me are going to spend a Diwali together. In the last few years both us were busy as our films were releasing. However this Diwali both of us are not shooting and hence decided to have a family get-together at my mother’s house”.In fact, Diwali celebrations started early this week for Dhanush as he was in a shopping spree buying clothes, crackers and jewellery for all family members. The 140th Gandhi Jayanthi celebration at the Raj Bhavan was a memorable event with His Excellency Governor Surjit Singh Barnala inaugurating the paintings of the Chennai-based painter A.P. Sreedhar. There were 18 paintings in all and each one of it had an apt title. The paintings exhibited released Gandhiji's conviction, defiance, affection, determination and perseverance among others. Speaking at the event, the Governor recalled his interactions with Mahatma Gandhi.

All the paintings had a commentary to it which makes the exhibition even more interesting. Noted actor Vijay, along his father and director S.A.Chandrasekar visited that exhibition and was in awe with Sreedhar's work.

Rajinikanth's fans are in for a disappointment with the star deciding to postpone the meeting that was scheduled during the first week of October. According to Rajini 's close associate Satyanarayana, the superstar will be off to Goa, as director Shankar has decided to film a few songs and scenes in the scenic location with Rajini and  Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starting from October 7th. This second schedule of Enthiran shooting will go on for ten days, he added.It may be recalled that the star had recently decided to meet his fans to strengthen his fans' association. A couple of days ago a few of Rajini 's fans gathered near Sathyanarayana's home demanding a meeting with their star to urge him enter politics.

Director Madhesh who churned out the Vijay flick 'Madura' is all set to team up with Ajith for a film titled 'Thalaivan'. Though 'Madura' went on to be a commercial success, Vijay fans felt there was something missing. This reportedly has wedged a wall of professional silence between Vijay and the director. Madhesh however went on to direct Vijayakanth in the film 'Arasangam' which was well received by the public. Buzz is that Madhesh wanted to team up with Vijay once again but then has met with stony silence from the other end. This probably made the director approach Ajith. The actor fondly called 'Thala' by his fans is reportedly happy with the story and has given a go-ahead to Madhesh.In all probability, once 'Aegan' is released, work on 'Thalaivan might start. Reports also suggest that Madhesh is currently abroad scouting for locations to film the song sequences. When every actor tastes success, they are referred to as Thalaivan in publicity materials and by fans. Interestingly, the name 'Thalaivan' may be used as the title of a film for the first time. Something Ajith fans would simply love.

Tamanna has declined offer opposite Mahesh Babu !

Tamanna has declined an offer to act opposite Mahesh Babu in a Telugu film to be directed by Trivikram, one of the happening directors of Andhra Pradesh.According to sources, the trouble is that she was promised the heroine's role, but it now looks like Parvathi Melton, the other heroine has more scenes and songs with Mahesh. Following this, Tamanna has reportedly decided to opt out.The petite actress is currently playing the female lead role in three Tamil films- 'Ayan' opposite Surya, 'Padikadhavan' opposite Dhanush and 'Ananda Thandavam', which has the story of Sujatha and directed by Chellamay fame Gandhi Krishna.However, Tamanna in a telephonic reaction to Indiaglitz has stated that she had to opt out of the project due to non availability of dates.

It's time for Dhanush the guest artist !

Dhanush will make a special appearance in a movie to be directed by Malayalam's leading film maker Ranjit. The flick will have Prithviraj and Priyamani in lead roles.Reports have it that Ranjit's first film in Tamil is a remake of his memorable musical love story 'Nandanam', which was the debut film of Prithviraj and Navya Nair in Malayalam. The Tamil venture will be produced by 'Shogun' Mohan.If sources are to be believed, Dhanush will do the role of god who plays cupid in bringing the lovers together. The screenplay will be written by writer and director Viji. Ranjit, who has written a handful of memorable scripts in Malayalam, was recently in the news for making 'Thirakkatha', a romantic story on the life of actress Srividya.

'Varanam Aayiram' audio relase on today !

The audio of ‘Varanam Aayiram’ will be launched on the 24th of September at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai. The audio rights have been acquired by Sony-BMG.‘Varanam Aayiram’ starring Suriya has musical score by Harris Jayaraj.The movie directed by Gautham Menon features Simran, Divya Spandana and Sameera Reddy as the heroines. Two songs are expected to be premiered at the audio launch and the cast and crew of the film in their entirety will be present.'Varanam Aayiram' appears to be a film that will showcase Suriya's talents as a flamboyant character artiste.The movie has been in the making for over a year and will release on the 28th of October.

Kamal Haasan's 'Marma Yogi' to kickstart soon !

'Marma Yogi' is garnering every bit of attention ever since it was announced and the latest news is that the film will start shooting in October in Mumbai. The film will be directed by Kamal Haasan and stars Trisha, Shriya, Hema Malini and Venkatesh apart from the versatile actor himself. The film is to be made in Tamil, English, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously 'Dasavatharam' opened across many theaters with mixed reviews but then has made it quite majestically to hundred days. Adding to this majestic appeal is the way 'Marma Yogi' is being planned.Reports indicate that the Red Camera will be used and a Hollywood cinematographer has been roped in. Kamal Haasan and make-up are becoming synonymous these days and one can expect a flamboyant approach with this period film as well. A team of make-up specialists from Hollywood will be part of the team. A new technique called 'Spray Make-up' is being introduced to Indian Cinema with this film.An extravagant Project Launch for the film is expected to take place in Mumbai after which shooting will commence. The team would fly to many parts of the world including Sweden and of course many parts in India. Set in the 7th century AD, 'Marma Yogi' is expected to showcase a slice of life as it happened then including the diction and social themes.Kamal Haasan is known to be quite a perfectionist and with his experience, one can expect a stunning affair.Another huge factor that has to be spot on for 'Marma Yogi' is the costumes part. Leading producer Kalaipuli .S.Dhanu had said that if his film gets censored on Monday (September 22), it will positively get released on Friday (Sep 26). However the film is yet to be censored and it looks like it is making way for Sun Pictures Kathalil Vizhuenthen, which has booked all the screens. Dhanu and Kalanithi Maran are now best of friends due to recent political happenings, and obviously they did not want to clash.Remember Kathalil Vizhuenthen has the hit song Nakku Mukka…, which is being aggressively promoted by Sun TV. At the same time Sakkarakatti has the chartbuster Taxi, Taxi…, which Sun has the satellite rights and it makes sense for Dhanu to hold back the release as they are sure to promote its music.The film is the launch pad of K Bhagyaraj's son Shaanthanu, and Dhanu's son Kala Prabhu as director. The buzz around the film is positive especially after the "Taxi, Taxi…" song tuned by A.R Rahman became a chartbuster.Shaanthanu is pitted against two hot girls Vedika and Ishita in the film which is a" youthful musical entertainer", according to its director Kala Prabhu.For a film with newcomers, Dhanu has been able to sell the film to distributors at a high rate on the strength of Rahman's music. Sakkarakatti will take a super opening if it gets a solo release.

Vadivelu house attacked: Captain or Ultimate Star !

In a startling even today morning, Vadivelu’s residence was attacked by a group of men. The unidentified men were reportedly carrying tabloid size photos of Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar and were crying out slogans in support of him. They hurled stones incessantly at Vadivelu’s residence and threatened him before making away on their bikes. Before this, they had smashed Vadivelu’s office, leaving it in total disarray. No one was injured in the attacks.Following this, Vadivelu registered a complaint at the Virugambakkam police station. As news about the leak began to spread, there was an immediate denial from Ajith’s camp made by his manager Suresh Chandra. More interesting developments came about after a few more revelations. According to the complaint registered, the attackers had loudly threatened Vadivelu to not take up a personal duel with the future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. This has raised suspicion that supporters of Vijayakanth might be the actual perpetrators. The suspicion has been strengthened by the fact that barely a fortnight ago there had been an altercation between Vadivelu and Vijayakanth’s supporters following an argument about parking vehicles right in from of Vadivelu’s office. Vadivelu and his manager had been assaulted in the incident. A case regarding this is pending in court and Vadivelu was set to appear in court tomorrow to identify the people who assaulted him. The attacks and threats seem to be aimed at preventing him from appearing in court tomorrow, which could mean serious trouble for a few people.That is not all. The attackers had left the scene with a threat of carrying a more serious attack in the evening. This is certainly no the last that we will hear about this incident.
