Ajit & Gautham come together in Surangani !

It is the most exciting project on the floor. Ajit, the most handsome and dashing hero of Tamil cinema is going to be directed with the director's director Gautham Vasudeva Menon in a film to be produced by Sivaji Productions Ram Kumar.Gautham has given it a catchy title Surangani. Sivaji Productions is now negotiating with the producer who has registered this title for another film. The shoot of this film will start on November 1 in Chennai.Surangani is going to be Ajit's next film after Aegan. According to sources close to the unit, Ajit has been bowled over by Gautham's script. Ajit it seems is going to play a deadly gangster in the film. It is about man who rises from humble beginnings, to become the biggest don in the world, while Sameera Reddy will play the role of the gangster's moll.The film will have music by Harris Jayaraj, and camera is by Ajit's favourite Nirav Shah the man who gave that slick look to Billa. The film will be shot at one go, and will be ready for an April 14, 2009 release.

Ultimatestar Ajith is Thalaivan now !

Director Madhesh who churned out the Vijay flick 'Madura' is all set to team up with Ajith for a film titled 'Thalaivan'. Though 'Madura' went on to be a commercial success, Vijay fans felt there was something missing. This reportedly has wedged a wall of professional silence between Vijay and the director. Madhesh however went on to direct Vijayakanth in the film 'Arasangam' which was well received by the public. Buzz is that Madhesh wanted to team up with Vijay once again but then has met with stony silence from the other end. This probably made the director approach Ajith. The actor fondly called 'Thala' by his fans is reportedly happy with the story and has given a go-ahead to Madhesh.In all probability, once 'Aegan' is released, work on 'Thalaivan might start. Reports also suggest that Madhesh is currently abroad scouting for locations to film the song sequences. When every actor tastes success, they are referred to as Thalaivan in publicity materials and by fans. Interestingly, the name 'Thalaivan' may be used as the title of a film for the first time. Something Ajith fans would simply love.

Maniratnam lauded my performance– Lekha !

Lekha Washington who debuted with the recently released 'Jeyam Kondaan' is a very happy girl as ace director Mani Ratnam has congratulated her on a stunning performance. 'I felt proud that Mani Ratnam liked my performance' beamed Lekha. Though the actress was not the heroine of the film, she has a wonderful character that had enough and more scope to perform well. However, the former VJ turned actress is categorical that she will don only heroine roles in the future.A film titled 'Rakozhi' has been planned and Lekha Washington will pair with Jai. Since the film is not going to commence very soon, she is considering an offer from Bollywood. Lekha reveals that talks are currently on with the Hindi project.After her stint at Video Jockeying, Lekha made it big nationally as one of the interviewers of the highly successful Indian Premier League (IPL). Adventure seems to be the second name of Lekha as he is very fond of adventure sport. She was in London recently and trained in parachute jumping. Will this adventurous streak land her in an action-oriented role a la Charlie's Angles? Let's wait and watch.

Tamanna has declined offer opposite Mahesh Babu !

Tamanna has declined an offer to act opposite Mahesh Babu in a Telugu film to be directed by Trivikram, one of the happening directors of Andhra Pradesh.According to sources, the trouble is that she was promised the heroine's role, but it now looks like Parvathi Melton, the other heroine has more scenes and songs with Mahesh. Following this, Tamanna has reportedly decided to opt out.The petite actress is currently playing the female lead role in three Tamil films- 'Ayan' opposite Surya, 'Padikadhavan' opposite Dhanush and 'Ananda Thandavam', which has the story of Sujatha and directed by Chellamay fame Gandhi Krishna.However, Tamanna in a telephonic reaction to Indiaglitz has stated that she had to opt out of the project due to non availability of dates.

It's time for Dhanush the guest artist !

Dhanush will make a special appearance in a movie to be directed by Malayalam's leading film maker Ranjit. The flick will have Prithviraj and Priyamani in lead roles.Reports have it that Ranjit's first film in Tamil is a remake of his memorable musical love story 'Nandanam', which was the debut film of Prithviraj and Navya Nair in Malayalam. The Tamil venture will be produced by 'Shogun' Mohan.If sources are to be believed, Dhanush will do the role of god who plays cupid in bringing the lovers together. The screenplay will be written by writer and director Viji. Ranjit, who has written a handful of memorable scripts in Malayalam, was recently in the news for making 'Thirakkatha', a romantic story on the life of actress Srividya.

'Varanam Aayiram' audio relase on today !

The audio of ‘Varanam Aayiram’ will be launched on the 24th of September at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai. The audio rights have been acquired by Sony-BMG.‘Varanam Aayiram’ starring Suriya has musical score by Harris Jayaraj.The movie directed by Gautham Menon features Simran, Divya Spandana and Sameera Reddy as the heroines. Two songs are expected to be premiered at the audio launch and the cast and crew of the film in their entirety will be present.'Varanam Aayiram' appears to be a film that will showcase Suriya's talents as a flamboyant character artiste.The movie has been in the making for over a year and will release on the 28th of October.

Kamal Haasan's 'Marma Yogi' to kickstart soon !

'Marma Yogi' is garnering every bit of attention ever since it was announced and the latest news is that the film will start shooting in October in Mumbai. The film will be directed by Kamal Haasan and stars Trisha, Shriya, Hema Malini and Venkatesh apart from the versatile actor himself. The film is to be made in Tamil, English, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously 'Dasavatharam' opened across many theaters with mixed reviews but then has made it quite majestically to hundred days. Adding to this majestic appeal is the way 'Marma Yogi' is being planned.Reports indicate that the Red Camera will be used and a Hollywood cinematographer has been roped in. Kamal Haasan and make-up are becoming synonymous these days and one can expect a flamboyant approach with this period film as well. A team of make-up specialists from Hollywood will be part of the team. A new technique called 'Spray Make-up' is being introduced to Indian Cinema with this film.An extravagant Project Launch for the film is expected to take place in Mumbai after which shooting will commence. The team would fly to many parts of the world including Sweden and of course many parts in India. Set in the 7th century AD, 'Marma Yogi' is expected to showcase a slice of life as it happened then including the diction and social themes.Kamal Haasan is known to be quite a perfectionist and with his experience, one can expect a stunning affair.Another huge factor that has to be spot on for 'Marma Yogi' is the costumes part. Will Sakkarakatti release this Friday?

Leading producer Kalaipuli .S.Dhanu had said that if his film gets censored on Monday (September 22), it will positively get released on Friday (Sep 26). However the film is yet to be censored and it looks like it is making way for Sun Pictures Kathalil Vizhuenthen, which has booked all the screens. Dhanu and Kalanithi Maran are now best of friends due to recent political happenings, and obviously they did not want to clash.Remember Kathalil Vizhuenthen has the hit song Nakku Mukka…, which is being aggressively promoted by Sun TV. At the same time Sakkarakatti has the chartbuster Taxi, Taxi…, which Sun has the satellite rights and it makes sense for Dhanu to hold back the release as they are sure to promote its music.The film is the launch pad of K Bhagyaraj's son Shaanthanu, and Dhanu's son Kala Prabhu as director. The buzz around the film is positive especially after the "Taxi, Taxi…" song tuned by A.R Rahman became a chartbuster.Shaanthanu is pitted against two hot girls Vedika and Ishita in the film which is a" youthful musical entertainer", according to its director Kala Prabhu.For a film with newcomers, Dhanu has been able to sell the film to distributors at a high rate on the strength of Rahman's music. Sakkarakatti will take a super opening if it gets a solo release.

Vadivelu house attacked: Captain or Ultimate Star !

In a startling even today morning, Vadivelu’s residence was attacked by a group of men. The unidentified men were reportedly carrying tabloid size photos of Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar and were crying out slogans in support of him. They hurled stones incessantly at Vadivelu’s residence and threatened him before making away on their bikes. Before this, they had smashed Vadivelu’s office, leaving it in total disarray. No one was injured in the attacks.Following this, Vadivelu registered a complaint at the Virugambakkam police station. As news about the leak began to spread, there was an immediate denial from Ajith’s camp made by his manager Suresh Chandra. More interesting developments came about after a few more revelations. According to the complaint registered, the attackers had loudly threatened Vadivelu to not take up a personal duel with the future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. This has raised suspicion that supporters of Vijayakanth might be the actual perpetrators. The suspicion has been strengthened by the fact that barely a fortnight ago there had been an altercation between Vadivelu and Vijayakanth’s supporters following an argument about parking vehicles right in from of Vadivelu’s office. Vadivelu and his manager had been assaulted in the incident. A case regarding this is pending in court and Vadivelu was set to appear in court tomorrow to identify the people who assaulted him. The attacks and threats seem to be aimed at preventing him from appearing in court tomorrow, which could mean serious trouble for a few people.That is not all. The attackers had left the scene with a threat of carrying a more serious attack in the evening. This is certainly no the last that we will hear about this incident.

Tamil tution for 'Marma Yogi' cast !

'Marma Yogi' started off with a photo shoot at the AVM Studios in Chennai recently and Kamal ,Trisha, Shriya and Hema Malini were part of it. All actors looked ravishing at the photo shoot especially because of a new form of make-up that was used. Called Spray Make-Up, this is probably the first time it is used for an Indian film.The results were there to see as both Trisha and Shriya glowed with radiance and charm. Kamal Haasan, who has written the script, will also be directing the film. Touted to be the costliest film to ever come from India the film will be shot using the most modern Red Camera. A cinematographer and a team of make-up artists from Hollywood are expected to be part of the film. Interestingly, some prominent actors of the film who would dub for themselves like Trisha will be trained to speak in chaste Tamil as was spoken centuries ago. Trisha has been provided with a trainer who has started coaching her in Senthamizh. Looks like the perfectionist in Kamal does not want to leave any stone unturned.

Actresses Anoushka returns to Kollywood !

Remember the gorgeous actress Anoushka, who romanced with Madhavan on the beaches for the film 'Rendu', which incidentally was her debut film in Tamil? After that, she moved to Telugu films and reportedly developed 'close' association with a leading hero in Tollywood.
Anoushka, who is among the top heroines in Telugu, is not willing to give up her stakes in Tamil films. She has now been signed for a new Tamil film opposite none other than Karthi of 'Paruthiveeran' fame. The film will also star Priyamani, who was Karthi's Muthazhagu in the award-winning film 'Paruthiveeran'. The hit pair comes together for the second in this film with Anoushka as the third angle. Unconfirmed reports also said that the reason for Anoushka's sudden fascination for Tamil films is that the actor, under whose patronage she was for the past year or so, had reportedly shunned her. It is said that to relieve her mind of this disappointment and as a means of sustenance, Anoushka has landed in Kollyood. 

Bail granted to Sarvana Stores owners !

Madras High Court today granted bail to the owners of Saravana Vessel Store, who had surrendered before a magistrate court following arrest warrants issued against them in connection with the fire accident in their stores in the city.Two employees were charred to death in a recent fire mishap at the store in T Nagar here.Justice R Regupathi ordered the release of S Yogarathinam, S Rajarathinam and Shanmughaduari on bail on each of them executing a bond for a sum of Rs 25,000 with two sureities each for the like sum to the satisfaction of 17th Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet.The Court also directed the trio to report before the police daily for a period of one week until further orders.Earlier, the High Court granted bail to the Sales Manager and Supervisor of the Store, who were arrested in connection with the incident. - Agencies

Cinema : Asin in vijay's 'Vettaikaran'

There seems to be a shortage of top heroines in Tamil films. Apart from Nayantara, Trisha and Shriya, there are no suitable jodis for our leading heroes. One could add Asin to the list but she seems to have decided to remain stuck to Bollywood. No wonder there was a hassle to sign a heroine for Vijay's 'Vettakaran.' Since Nayantara is in 'Villu,' she can't be cast for 'Vettaikaran.' Fans did not quite cheer Trisha as Vijay's heroine in 'Kuruvi.' Shriya has just sung duets with Vijay in 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan.' There were rumours that Ileana was approached for the 'Vettaikaran' role but that was all it was – a rumour. The producers say they never thought of Ileana as their only aim was at Asin. Asin is at present outside India shooting for 'London Dreams.' Since it's a Vijay film, she gave her call sheet immediately.Film shooting starts in November.

Cinema : What is Ajith's next film ?

After 'aegan' what would Ajith's next film be? Going by the news circulating in Kodambakkam, his next film seems to be in a sort of tangle. After 'aegan,' Ajith had given his call sheet to AVM. It is supposed to be directed by Gautham Vasudeva Menon but it seems the director is yet to tell the story to the producer.

'Arasangam' Madesh had narrated a story to Ajith, who liked it and that set Madesh working on the next step. A catchy title like 'Thalaivan' is ready too. So, would Ajith do the AVM film or Madesh film next?

Cinema : Vadivelu's house attacked !

Popular comedian Vadivelu's house was attacked by a gang at Saligramam in Chennai on Sunday morning (September 21).The gang which came in auto rickshaws and motorbikes to pelted stones at the house and also smashed the windows and showcase in the actor's house.Vadivelu, who was in the house at the time of attack, had locked himself in a room. He escaped unhurt.Sources close to the actor suspect the involvement of cadres from actor Vijayakanth's political party DMDK. A tussle broke out between the comedian and the actor-politician a few months ago. The case is being heard at the Saidapet court. The final hearing will be held on the 22nd of September.Senior police officials visited Vadivelu's house and supervised the scene of the attack. Talking to the media after lodging a police complaint, Vadivelu said, 'I am just a comedy actor. I wonder why he is targeting me', he said apparently referring to Vijayakanth.A case of attempt to murder has been filed against Vijayakanth in this regard by the police. Further investigations are on in the case.Meanwhile latest reports suggest that Vadivelu wants to contest the next Assembly elections against Vijayakanth. He is quoted as saying that he wants to beat Vijayakanth in order to teach him a lesson.
